Throughout aviation history, there have been situations where one of the main VCS systems of an airport became (temporarily) inoperative. To ensure that air traffic will continue to be dealt with safely in these situations, MEP also supplies Last Resort Systems. These systems are installed with total independence from a main VCS system,
using its own infrastructure (network and cabling, etc), separately from the main VCS system. The user interface can be configured in such a way that air traffic controllers can work intuitively even in an emergency situation, with essential actions mirroring those of the main VCS system as much as possible.
